Kinderwerkstatt: The House of Germany offers German language instruction to students between the age of 4 and 14. The classes are designed to improve German fluency, vocabulary and grammar as well as to teach reading and writing in German.

We offer instruction in two locations: Rancho Penasquitos on Fridays from 4:30 pm to 6 pm and in Clairemont on Tuesdays from 4:30 pm to 6 pm.

NEWS FROM THE KINDERWERKSTATT

For the first time, the Kinderwerkstatt has more than fifty students, which is a big success for all of us, and it also reflects the growing German population in San Diego. 

When I started to work for the Kinderwerkstatt in the fall of 2003, we worked in four classrooms with about 27 students. Now we teach in seven classrooms with a total of 54 students, which is an increase of 100%!

Because of the increase in numbers we are now able to buy more teaching materials, and that in turn leads to better instruction and more fun during the lessons.

Our program this year included the Laternenumzug. For the first time we will meet at La Jolla Shores where we will also have the opportunity to ignite a Saint Martin’s fire at the beach. All members are invited to come and celebrate with us!

The next event will be a visit from Saint Nicholas early in December in the classrooms before we will celebrate Christmas with all House of Germany members on December 12th.
